Since 2005, over 90% of all new cars sold worldwide have been equipped with a catalytic converter, also installation of catalyst on vehicles was mandatory in Iran and before this date, vehicles were not standardized. According to the comprehensive air pollution reduction plan" test of validation of catalytic converter in technical diagnosis of the vehicles is mandatory" in order to issue label and certificate of technical diagnosis from early 2012. The regulations controlling auto emissions in countries throughout the world have become increasingly restrictive and will continue to tighten in the future.

The gasoline engine is still the most common internal combustion engine built into passenger cars and light duty vehicles. Globally, more than 70 million vehicles are presently equipped with gasoline engines increasing more than 80 million vehicles beyond 2020.Introducing the three-way catalyst (TWC) in the late 1980s, pollutants emission from gasoline engines have already been decreased significantly. With further growing accentuate global warming and greenhouse gas emissions have been established broadly in the market. These more efficient gasoline engines and their different combustion modes (lean burn, stoichiometric and full power output) require highly advanced aftertreatment solutions especially regarding NOx and particle emissions. Behgam provides technical solutions supporting car manufacturers (OEM) fulfilling ever tightening global emission standards. Our portfolio for gasoline applications includes three-way catalysts (TWC), NOx storage catalysts (NSC) as well as catalysts for diesel particulate filters (DPF).

Pollution of a motorcycle is 8 times more than emission of a light duty vehicle. Additionally, Tehran hosts more than 3 million motorcycles which aren’t standardized chiefly. Motorcycles in Tehran undertake more than 20% air pollution and 49%noise pollution and daily 300,000 tons of pollutants are dispersed in air by motorcycles.Behgam provides tailored catalytic coatings with advanced technical solutions which cover future exhaust legislation at low precious metal cost and high aging stability, so that recreational vehicles and engine driven tools can be used with a clear conscience.

Diesel engines produce NOx and particulate pollutants; emission regulations for diesel engines are requiring the development of emission control systems to reduce the amount of pollutants emitted on every vehicle.Larger engines, in trucks and buses, are almost exclusively diesel powered. In order to cover required legislation across a wide range of engine types and sizes, dedicated emission control systems are being developed. Compliance to the upcoming regulations for both mobile and stationary diesel engines is being met by use of catalyst technologies playing a main role. Diesel Oxidation Catalysts (DOC), Catalysed particulate filters (CDPF), lean NOx traps and Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) catalysts are all being developed to meet legislative targets. In Diesel cars, there is a growing need for NOx control. Behgam produces tailored materials for Diesel applications.
